a. Information Services

The Society for Environment and Human Development (SEHD) provides information and documentation services on environment, human rights, ethnic issues, democracy, excluded groups, and the media. [For details see SEHD Documentation Center].


c. Guidance

Through action-oriented research, investigative reporting, survey, organizing training and seminar, SEHD has developed useful knowledge about sources of information and contacts and human resources for critical work and thinking in its interest areas. Journalists, researchers and consultants (local and international) can use SEHD’s services for easy access to information and contacts. SEHD indeed routinely provides guidance to journalists, visitors, academics, students, writers, excluded groups, etc.

 

d. Commissioned Consultancy

SEHD can be contracted for commissioned consultancies and assignments in the areas of its interest and expertise. Examples are preparation of “The CCHRB Election Observation Report 2001” and “A Guide to NGO-Business Partnerships”. Both assignments required experience and expertise. The two books that have resulted out of the assignments and SEHD’s other productions demonstrate its competence.

SEHD can also be contracted for editing and production of books and reports.

 

e. Organizing Trainings

SEHD has special expertise in organizing trainings on human rights and environmental writing and documentation. Its strength in organizing trainings lies in the information base that the organization has built and the choice of experienced resource persons. Ground realities and concerns are at the center of its trainings. The SEHD training also generates ideas and insights for greater access to sources and information. This is essential for promotion of investigative reporting.

 

f. Guidance

Journalists, researchers and consultants (local and international) can take SEHD’s help for easy access to information, contacts and the fields. SEHD indeed routinely provides guidance to many journalists, visitors, academic, students and writers on these issues.

 

h. Guest Rooms

The Society for Environment and Human Development (SEHD) has two rooms at its office that it offers to selected and recommended guests. Both rooms have two beds; one of them is air-conditioned. We offer the rooms at reasonable rates which are: Non-AC one bed: Tk.500.00 and Non-AC two beds: Tk.800.00; AC room with attached bath: Tk.1,200.00 (one person) and Tk.1,500.00 (two persons)

The rooms are located on the fifth floor with no elevator. But facilities attached with the rooms are: (a) a cook is there to cook food of the guests’ choice, (b) a well-furnished kitchen where guests can cook their own meals if they want, (c) SEHD library, (e) limited internet connection, (f) consultation, guidance and additional space for foreign guests who are visiting Bangladesh on research/writing/journalistic assignments (cost involved for additional services is negotiable, and (g) a very quiet environment.

 

i. Space and Equipment for Rent

SEHD has small space/training facility and equipment that it rents out. The rental services are: (i) venue/space (non-AC) for training, meeting (capacity 20 persons—Tk.1,500.00 (per day); (ii) microbus without gasoline—Tk.1,500.00 (per day); (iii) photocopy of news clippings, Tk.2.00 (per page); (iv) TV & DVD player offered if training venue is rented—Tk.500.00 (per day); (v) multimedia projector (with standard/large screen), Tk.2,000.00 (per day); (vi) cordless microphone system Tk.500.00 (per day).
